Ini'ormation to this effe'd has been received by the Aeting M i n ister of Industries and Commerce, Uon. A. H. Nordmeyer, wlio added that consumer goods of anv deseription were very unlikelywto be received from Germany. The position regarding repara tions from Japan had not'yet been finally determined but. was being closely watehed by the Government. It Tvas possible, however, that textiles inight become available from Japan by way of tracle as distinct from reparation. Arepresentative of the department was at present on his way to Japan and it was hoped to obtain more preeisq details of the availability of goods from the area in the near future.
