REFUSED SERVICES OF ATOM SCIENTIST
Received Wednesday, 7.0 p.m. LONDON, May 7. The British authorities have refused United States' Government requests for the services of the German atom seientist, Professor Otto Hahn, says the Daily Express Gottingen correspondent. This is the first time Ameriea has been denied the righ't to offer a eontraet to a "Britis]i cbntrolled German sci.ectjst who is not needed by Britain. The reason given for the refusal is that unless the drainage of seientifi? technical talent from the British zone is stopped, Germany will never beeome selfsupporting. The British authorities think Professor Hahn might attract tne best young Gerihan seientiHts from nther zones to Gottingen which is the new cultural centre of Oermany.
