RANGITATA DELAYED
WELLINGTON, May 7. ° Due to engine - trouble, the New Zealand Bhipping Company liner Rangitata did not sail for London tonigbt as scheduled. Her 710 passengers,. including 250 scouts, were told at embarkation time (7- p.m.) that the ship 's departure had bqen put baek until 7 a.m. Friday and that a new enibarkation time "had been fixed for 0 p.m. tomorrow. Passengers who wished were allowed to sleep on board tonight and qiany did so. While hundi'eds streamed ashore to take advantage of the extra 'night in New Zealand, groups of scouts were passing their time in impromptu singing parties. The engine trouble is believed to have been caused by a faulty eompressor on one of th'' Rangitata 's two oil engines. Using one engine she will move at 7 a.m. tomorrow from Glasgow Wharf-to Aotea Quay. Besides the scoffts who are, travelling to the internatioual jamboree ih France, many well known people are passengers by the ship to take advantage of the coming English summer, Among the passengers are the High Cormnissioner for United Ttingdora, Sir Patrielc Duff and Lady Duff.
