IHAKARA'S MAY MEETING There was a good attendance of members at the May meeting of the Ihakara Women's Institute, Mrs. Butt presiding. Letters weie read acknqwledging the receipt of parcels from the link in England. Mrs. A. Hudson was the winner of the vegetable competition for the year ending ^in April, and Mrs. R. J. Rolston was second. The highlight of the afternoon was a most interesting talk by Mr. Stan Atkins on his experiences while a prisoner of war, an.d with the . Partisans in Italy. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Members are reminded, to each take a plate for afternoon tea for the June .meeting. The various competitions resulted as follows: — Bonnet: Mrs. Gardner 1, Mrs. Trotter 2, Mrs. Hudson 3. Boottees: Mrs. Butt 1, Mrs. Trotter 2, Mrs. Dyole 3. Flower: Mrs. Brookes and Mrs. Hall 1 (equal) , Mrs: R. Taylor 2, Mrs. Gardner 3. Shrub: Mrs. Hudson 1, Mrs. Trotter 2, Mrs.. J. H. Rplston 3. Beetroot: Mrs. Hudson 1, Mrs. Gardner 2, Mrs. Boddy 3. Mesdames Hibell and Humphrey were in charge of the bring-and-buy stall. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. ' .
