DAY OF PRAYER FOR TASKS OF BRITAIN
Received Wednesday, 10.55 a.m. LONDON, May 6. No. 10 Downing Street announees that His Majesty the King desires July ff to be observed as a national day of prayer in view of Britain's tasks and dpties. The Archbishops of Canterbm'y and York jointlv state that every citizen should prepare for July & by serious thought.' The necessitie? of national life could only be secured by long and severe exertions. The severxTy of the task demanded subordination to the common good of personal advantage and sectional interests. "We call our fellow citizens in the coming weeks to examine the national life and their personal lives by the standards of the Ten Commaiidments and Christ's teaching to repent of irreligion, which distorts personal lives and the common, lifje, and to- seek the dlaily help of God."
