Received Tuesday, 10.45 p.m. LONDON, May 6. Field Marshal Kesselring has been J'oitnd guilty of war crimes after a trial lasting nearly three months, says Reuler's correspondent in Yenico. The C'ourt has adjourned to consider sent ence. Kesselring was found guiltv, firstly, oi' liaving been coneerncd in ihe kiliing as a reprisal, of 33(3 italians in the Anleatine caves near Ronie on 23/3/44; sccondly, liaving ordered his troops to carry out reprisals by kiliing Italian citizens between June and August, 11)44. The Judge Advoeate of the British Militarv Court before which Kesselring was tried, invited aceused's counsel, Dr. Laternser, to make a plea in mitigation. Oounsel replied that Kesselring defended the ideas for which he slood and not his person, lle had expressly asked counsel not to address the Court any furtlier.
