TRADE TALKS DISAPPOINT
Received Monday, 7 p.m. LONDON, May 5. The exchange of tarift" requests and concessions at the Tnternational Trade Qrganisation still have not passed the "horse dea'ing" stage, sa-s tlie Times' Geneva eoi'respondent. Requests have been excessively high and concession offers verv low. This led to a great deal of disappointment particularly to the Australian delegation in regard to United States-' offer relating to tariff on wool. The ,Australians and New Zealanders had looked to an easier market 'for their wool in United States as the main compensation for any dismantling of imperial preferences. The., Times adds that delegates, in discussing the value of Germany as an element in general European trade, revealed that countries in Eastern Europe do not attach the same importance to Germany 's reconstraction as countries in Wcstem Europe.
