NOTES ON PLAYERS

In Saturd'ay's match at Otaki between Athletic and OtakiRahui * seniors some very good individual play was witnessed. For Otaki-Rahui Lindsay, at fullback, was safe and he kicked with good judgment. Webster was perhaps the pick of the three-quarter iine, but Gdfdon and Enoka, however, were ^ of' great assistance'. Hakaraia and Gray both played outstanding games, and were sofid in all depaftments. They should be well- to the froht for represen: tative honours. The Otaki-Rahui pack worked well and there were no, slackers. Ramsbotham was perhaps the 'pick of the fine set. De Castro performed creditably as full-back for Athletic. The three-quarters, Johnsoh, Lancaster and McGregor, had Otaki worried with their speed. They were well fed by Galloway and Hudson, both of whom played splendidly. Their passing was clean and nippy. Batten was also outstanding. The forwards all worked hard and the most prominent forward on the field was Corbishley, who looks a certainty for representative honours. He is one of the best forwards seen in the Horowhenua for many years. One of the fittest teams in the Horowhenua competitions this season is Wanderers, and this factor is one of the main reasons -for their successes. The team has also introduced some younger players, and the back line in particular has been considerably strengthened by the inclusion of T. Winiata and G. Sciascia. These two young players have a good combinatiom and a perfect understanding. Stackhouse played a good game at full-back and his place kicking is an asset to the team. In the forwards Lincoln and Bartholomew were prominent The whole pack worked hard and there were no slackers. The Hui Mai forwards also played good hard football and there hooking was some of the best seen in- Levin for many years. The two Robinson brothers and McCashin held the pack together, and often worried the Wanders' inside backs. The backs also went well, but their handling is not yet sure.
