BIOGRAPHY OF STARS
HAD EYE ON ACTING FROM BOYHOOD Barry K. Barnes, playing in the British production "Bedelia," was born in London in 1906. On leaw ing school he worked in the drawing -office of-a factory for twc years, but his eye. was on the theatre and he decided to take ui acting as a career. He won a scholarship to - the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art for a year, aftei which he put in two years of harc work with Repertory Companies in the provinces, appearing afterwards in ■ a succession of plays on >the London stage. Between stage engagements Barry did a great deal of broadcasting and was one of the eommentators for Britisb Movietone News. Starting in movies in 1937, Barry's first film was "The Return of the Scariet Pimpernel,'/ followed by "Who Goes Next," "This Man is News," ^ "This Man in I^aris" and "Girl - in the News," in which he co -starred with Margarc Lockwood. During the war Barry and his actress wife, Diana Churchill, spent their entire time entertaining the troops and playing in provincial theatres.
