FINDING LABOUR NOMINEE FOR AVON SEAT

CHRISTCHURCH, May Z. The names of six nominees for selection as the official Labour eandidate for the Avon scat made vacant by the death of Mr. Sullivan, will be considered by the national exeeutive of the Labour Party during the weekend. An oftieial announeement of the eandidate is expeeted on Tuesday or Wednesday. The nominees are: — Nurse A. Maekwell, Mrs. A. J. Jones, Messrs. A. B. Graut, G. Manning, J. Mathison and A. G. Williams. The nominations were made at a speeial meeting in the Avon electorate on Tuesday evening and at a meeting of the North Canterbury Labour Representation Conimittee. Mr. Jame's Roberts (national president). aud Mr. li. Fddv, M.L.C., wlio were present at both meetings, will return to Wellington tomorrow and they will report to the national exeeutive which will make the selection of the eandidate. ' ' » 1 ■ i 11 11
