REBELLION FLARES UP
Received Thursdav, 7 p.m. LONDON, May 1, The Daily Telegraph 's Paris correspondent says rebel pressure in Madagascar has considerably increased during the past 24 hcfurs in the region of Mananjary on the east coast of the island ahd also at Tamatave,- 185 miles further north where local Europeans are eoncentrated in expectation of a siege. French reconnaissance planes have sighted villages burning betw-een tlie two towns. Sporadic attacks on European settlements are' also reported in other areas by armed bands of the uative dissidents.
