Eeceived Rundav, 7 p.m. OTTAWA, April 20. C'oclctails were served in the princi pal hotels of Ottawa and other Ontario cities yesterda.v for the Pirsl time in .41 years. Since 1910 only beer or winc could be served in any public placr althougli whiskv, gin and brandy could be bought in liquor stores operated 1)_\ the provincial authorities. The new systeni t'ollows the passage of legisja tion introduced by Ontario 's Premier ATr. George Drew, but the number of hotels entitled to serve "hard" Jiquor is limited. * The action was taken largely in response to a coinplaint by American tourists who in 1940 spent 221,000,000 dollars in Oanada.
