WELLINGTON WOOL SALE
—press Association
By Telegraph-
WELLINGTON, April 28. Prices for practieally all classes of wool at the fifth Wellington sale today were, over the first two catalogues, a shade firmer than those ruling at the previous sale, and in the face of a keen demand passings were very few. The offering totalled some 24,000 bales of which o'nly 1860 were slipe and scoured, the §mallest proportion this season. Buying throughout the morning was better spread than at any previous sale and the joint organisation representative was largely a spectator. The Co'ntinent and British buyers again led competition, though the United States and Canada were much more prominent than before. Local mills bought sparingly. Lambs' wool, of which there was a sprinkling, was largely wanted again, and up to 29|d was paid for two lots. Classier grades of fleece wools made over 25d and a big proportion of average grade brought around 17d and 18d.
