Speaking especially to the yopng men and women $vho were born about the same time as herself, she said: "I am sure you will see our difficulties in >the light that I see them, as a great opportunity for you and me. If we all go forward together with unwavering faith, high courage and a quiet heart we shall be able to make of this ancient Commonwealth an even grander thing — more free, prosperous and happy. and a more powerful inflitence for good in the world — :than it has been in the greatest days of our forefathers." The Princess said that at a time like this, whibh brought thoughts of a life looking ahead with all its challenge and opportunities, it was great help for her to know there were multitudes of friends all around the world who were thinking of her, and who wished her well. Speaking of the welcome extended to the Royal Family in South Africa and Rhodesia, Princess Elizabeth said: "That is a great privilege belonging to our place in the world-wide Commonwealth — that there are homes ready to welcome us in every continent of the earth. I hope before I am much older that I shall come to know many of them." The Princess said she wished to thank all the thousands of kind friends who had sent messages of goodwill on her birthday.
