Personal Miss Hilda Manz, who has been on holiday in Otaki, has returned to Gisborne to resume her dental nursing. Mrs. . Symonds, after a most enjoyable trip to Auckland, Hamilton, New Piymouth and Palmerston North, has returned to her nome at Otaki. The death occurred yesterday of Zane Paul Grey, tlie three-monuhs-oid so'n of Mr. and Mrs. "Ted" Gray,- of Tainui. On retiring at night the child was in its usual health, but the mother on awakenmg at 3 a.m. yesterday found it had passed away. The child had been ailing from birth. An inquest will be heid. Rainfall, in Otaki The rainfall in Otaki for the 24 hours ending 9.30 a.m. yesterday was 1.78 i'nches. Football Practice All senior players and intending players of Rahui-Otaki Club are requested to attend at the domain for practice this evening at 7.30 p.m. Parents' Day at School A parents' day will be held at the Otaki State School on Wednesday at 1.30 p.m., when opportunity will be given to parents and others interested to observe the ordinary school work. It is hoped the day will receive the full support and interest of parents. Trout Liberated^ Of recent date about 2000 yearling trout have been liberated in the various branches of the Otaki River, the Waitohu and Waikawa especially receiving large numbers. . The annual meeting of the council of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society will be held at Wellington on Thursday, w^en Mr. C. C. Holmes will represent the Otaki branch. Olliver Shield Bowling One of the most important bowling matches of the season will be the one on Saturday, when Otaki and Otaki Railway meet for the Olliver Memorial Shield. On the last occasion the Railway players annexed this handsome trophy, but at the weekend Otaki hope to tura the tables. The match is timed to start at 1.30 p.m. sharp. Sporting At various race meetings last Saturday local and district hor'ses fared well, while jockeys Bill Connor and John Eaton rode with success. Delinquent, trained by Mr. Quinlivan, paid a substantial dividend, and also the two horses ridden by Eaton. Another locallyowned horse was Daphne Gratton, a trotter, owned by Mr. Harmen, a recent arrival in Otaki, but one who should be an acquisition to sporting eircles.
