STAR RAN A CAMPAIGN
Margaret Lockwood is fighting hard to retain her place as the first lady of the British screen. With British film audiences currently voting for favourites, she is dashing around the country on one of those highly publicised "personal appearance" tours. It is calculated to keep her popularity fresh with audiences. Like candidates for Parliament.ary honours, she has to soothe women, and fascinate men audiences. Maggie LocKwood finds her five-year-old daughter Julia a considerable asset in winning approval from her older woman fans. • Her . fan-mail last week fcotalled 11,000 letters, which goes to show such tours bring handsome dividends.
