256;285 GUINEAS PAID FOR YEARLINGS
Received Saturday, 12.4 a.m. SYDNEY, April 11. A11 aggregate of 256,285 guineas was paid for 467 lots at the Sydney yearling saies which concluded today. While tliis was 6195 guineas below last year's ■ record' the total indieated the- passing of the era of inflation aceording to breeders. The top price today, 3200 guineas, was paid for a filly bv PayqUp from- Port Dombey" (imp.). The filly was got in England and foaled in Austiralia. Mr. Standfast, whose stock have sold well throughout, was appropriately represented when a ftlly from Constant Miss was knocked down for 3000 guineas. Mr. A. O. Rcrmamo, who has been the most prominent operator at -t.h e saies, paid 2500 guineas, for a chestnut filly by Ajax from Whistle. Midstream (imp.), oue of the most successi'ul sires of recent years in Australia, was prominent again, his son from Chamlmnda fetching 2050 ';guineas. A. Mareonigram— Drcam Song. colt realiscd 1600 guineas.
