Assoeiation, Mr. Artliur Besse, prestdent of. the National Assoeiation oi Wool Manufacturers, said Australian and South African deniands for a 50 per cent reduction in the import duty 011 wool nieant that tliose eountries were deinaudirig a shrinkage of the Uniteu States sheep industry for the purpose of inereasing their own production. "They are demanding that we give up a s'ubstantial percentage of our sheepgrowing industry before they will consider gi ving us a better opportunity to sell automobiles, radios, tobacco aua niovies in the British Empire. " Mr. Besse also said that the .present import, duty of 33 cents a pound was insullicieut. »
