Mr. Marshali (L".-S.; ha s made public a letter to Mr. Molotov calling on Mr. Molotov to cooporate in roston ng iriuependence to Korea, says the Associateo Press's correspomlent in AIoscow. Mr. Marshali proposed, lirst.lv, that Russia and Americn ugree to re-convene their joiiit commission in Korea on the basis of respect for freedom of opinion witn the object of evotving measures tor Korean iiidepoiidem-c; and secondly, that the commission 's work b-e reviwed dnring the summer of 1947. .Mr. iViaishall added that iu the meantinie, America saw no alteriiative to taking imniediato steps in its /.oue to advance tne purposes of the Moseow joint agreement of Deeember 1945 providiug for a joiut coinmisison to work out plans ror a provisional Korean government. The commission broke dovvn in .M ay 194n when the members failed to agree on what organisations should be heard on Korean politieal lssuos. The Moscow radio broadeast an appeal from the democratic group of the Kuomintang urging the Foreigh Ministers to invesligate the desirability ot . ending the American " interference in C'liina" and the evacuati n of all American troops in ("hina, The group saicl without Anieriean help Chinese militarists eould not wage war against the Chinese nation and claimed that the enlire Chinese transport »and niining industries were American controlled.
