SHIPS' OFFICERS WAIT MOVE BY EMPLOYERS
. WELLINGTON, April 10. Although many more than 200 resignations of masters and officers of New Zealand ships, are already in thhands of' the employers, no move-/ has yet been made. I^v, tlie . gl^pp;vnei^.,.//Th H secretary of the New Zealand Merchant Service Guild, Captain W. R. Williams, said today that resignations are con tinuing to arrive from all over New Zealand. He stated that, with the exception of those on overseas duty, the entire membersliip of the guild intended to resign. Officers of ships 'on the Australian and American coasts have been instrueted not to resign until
their ships "are in New Zealand ports. The terms of the officers' award require them to give oue month 's notice before leaving their ships. Therefore, no resignations will become valid until May 8. However, it is stated that if there is any move by the shipowners to send the vessels awav from the New Zealand coast before May S, niembers
of the guild will probably shbrteh their notices. Captain Williams stated' that if an inquiry were held ,the guild -would insist that it be made public. A pri- - vate inquiry would not be acceptcd.
