Q ^ OPENING OF SEASON Ideal weather prevailing for • the annual openmg of the Otaki Golf Club, a large and representative crowd assembled at the clubhouse oO usher in. the new seasons Energetic . ladies' and men's committees were responsible for the successful opening, and a special word of praise is due to the secreoaries, Miss H. Lea and Mr. F. Elliotr, who worked indefatigably j chroughout the day. 'Autumn blooms made gay' the cables of deleetable edibles, which were greatly appreciated after- a doubtful round of • early seaso'n golf. Visitors were "present from neighbouring clubs and a mixed foursorne was played over nine holes, Mrs. • Bradford and Mr. Cooksley proving the winnel-s with a score of 41 — nett 33. Other gooa scores were recorded by Mrs. Alex." Wilson and C. Winterburn and Miss F. Holmes and J. Aiken (Levin) . The president, Mr. S. Elliott, in a brief speech, declared the links jpen, wisning piayers every suc--cess in the coming season. Mr. Elliott, also presented the Bertram Trophy, donatea by Mr. Bertram and won- by Mrs.. Derham and E. Gray. • ^ Mrs. W. Morton, the ladies' president, presided over the afternoon tea, with Mesdames P. cSimcox (captain) and Lea (vicecaptain) and the committee ladies ably assisting.
