Miss B. Roach and Mr. Pat Roach were visiting their parents, Mr. ana Mrs. J. A. Roach, over the Easter weekend. Mrs. J. Smith-and her two children, of Foxton, have been the guescs of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Wishart for the past week. Mr. Don Cole spent the holiday weekend in the Wairarapa districc as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Beattie. Gala. Day Trophies Prize-winners in the various competitions held at the carnival gala day on Saturday were: — Sheaf tossihg, Mr. J. Baker; chain stepping, Messrs. w. Roberts and R. Veale (equal) ; men's nail driving, Mr. L. Sayer; ladies' nail driving, Mesdames Hannam, Higgie and G. Barber (equal) ; sheep weightguessing, Mr. G. C. Riley ' (1341bs) ; pig weight guessing, Mr. D. Pedersen (105 lbs). Prize-winners who have not collected their trophies are asked to do so as soon as possible from Mr. T. S. Downes. A Fine Gesture When the bus carrying the Pahiatua marching teams to the gala day arrived in Shannon on Saturday morning, the coach of Judd's team, Mr. A. L. de Malmanche, handed over a donation as a contribution towards the comPined committees from the girls of Judd's and Herbert's teams. This was a very fine gesture, as the girls were the main attraction at the sports and had travelled a great distanee to assist at the carnival.
