SYDNEY YEARLING SALES
Eeceived Tuesdav, 11.8 p.m. SYDNEY, April 8. Mr. A. O. Romano, former owner of Bernborough, paid top price of 3500 guineas for a bay colt by Midstream (imp)-Idle Words, at the opening of annual Sydnev thoroughbred yearling saies today. The colt is a brother of Shannon. A total of 150 yearlings was sold today for 85,160 guineas, an average of 567 guineas. As was the case last year, the offerings of Mr. O. P. Miller 's Kia Ora stud, Scone) dominated the opening day and twelve iots from that stud were sold for 19,400 guineas. Mr. Romano also went to 2700 guineas for a Le Grand Duc (imp)-Virgin Wing colt, a brother fo Flying Duke. Anotlier colt by Le Grand Duc-Sweet Sound brought 2900 guineas.
