WELLINGTON, April S. With 281 points, D. Calderwood (Hamilton) retained his championship title when the New .Zealand draughts tournament ended tod'ay. Iv. Magnusson (Wellington) and C. Johnstone (Palmerston North) tied for second plaee with 23 points. Handicap' results were: — R. Ramsay (Pal.merstoii North), handicap S, 17*5
points, 1-; Prince (Wanganui), handicap 21, 201 points, 2; T. Gilhooly (Dannevirke) and H. Carey (Palmerston Nortlx) equal 3, G. Graham, (Dannevirke) 4, L. Shaw ( Lower Hutt) 5, McG. Smith (Wellington) 6. The Calderwood special prize for the oldest competing member was awarded to D. McPhersop, Wellington.
