Successful Shopday A most successful shopday for the food parcels for Britain fund, was held recenfly, organised by a subcommittee of All Saints' Ladies' Guild and convened by Mesdames Neylon and Fife. A most generous response from the public brought the. fund to £42, with more donations to come. This is a really excellent result. Assault on Chinaman Kong Fook, the 87-year-old Chinaman who was assaulted ir his home at Otaki on Sunday night and robbed of £55, was yesterday reported to be in a satisfactory condition. Medical examination showed that Fook had not suffered a fractured skull as was at first feared. Detective-Sergeant J. H. Alty, of Palmerston North, visited Otaki yesterday and prosecuted inquiries. Football on Up Grade Football promises to be on . the -up grade in Otaki this season, a'nd judging by the match with Petone the senior team, although light; should give a good account of itself in championship matches. The team as a whole proved quite a good one, and the passing rushes, kicking, collaring and scrum work did the players credit. There are one or two improvements that could be made, but these will soon be overcome with practice. Those members who tumed out in the club's colours against Petone are to be congratulated and when the whole fifteen is similarly attired the lads should be a credit, not only 4o themselves, but -;o the town they represent.
