WELLINGTON, April 2. The settlement of the strike 011 the Huntly coalfield was annouuced tonight by the Minister of Labour, Mr. McLagan. The resumption of production, he said, would bring about an immediate easing in the supplies of coal for industries and also for the use oi the railways. There was a long discussion 011 the wet time dispute and. eventually a proposal for settlement was made by the district colliery managers. This proposal was reduced-'to writing and submitted to , a niass meeting of the Huntly miners. The proposal was accepted by.. a substantial majority and the miners would be working tomorraw. The opejicast mines would continue to work during the Easter holidays.
