Shorii, ivether lambs brought from 2'2s 9d to '2Sg,: ld: " Wethers brought 29s M" and shorn wethers up to 32s 7d. A line of '4-tooth wethers realised 33s 3d. Ewc lambs went from 22s 9d to 26s 6d and woolly wether lambs brought 29s 7d. Tliough tliere was not a very big yarding of fat sheep, good quality liuessold very well. Other lines were selling at about schcdule. Fat wethers sold at up ,to 37s 4d, fat ewes at up to 25s 4d and fat lambs at up to 32s 6d. Tliough theTe was only a small yarding- of 300 store cattle, there was a fairly large bench of burers. Bidding was restricted aDd there were several passings. A bctter quality line of 44 AA 24-year steers particularly sound and in good condition, brought £11 14s a head. Two-off steers were sold at from. £9 to £11 14s, and 4-off bullocka were passed in at £12 15s. Four and frve-year cows in calf were sold at up to £S, The fact 'that the works will not be killing over Easter adversely affeeted both the attendance of buyers and yarding of beef. The eomparative lack of competition, coupled with the absence of really high quality beef in the small yarding of only 50 head, kept prices down. A consignment of 27 cows and heifers made from £9 8s 6d to £10 13s 6d on the restricted market. This lot- comprised elean fat AA stock.- No ox were offered.
