NAPIER, April 3. The spectacle of two pollee officers. carrying a. young woman down the gangway of the vessel Napier Star provided a last*minute diversion as the ship was preparing to leave for Liverpool /esuerday afternoon. The sequel was heard i'ii the police court this morning when Fatricia Iris Thomson, aged 18, ^ppeared on a charge of being an .dle and disorderly person, with insufflcient lawful means of support. "We want to khow more about her," said Senior-Detective D. McKenzie, asking for a remand to Wednesday next, He said that the girl refused to leave the ship at che request of the captain after Demg found hiding in a lifeboat. The girl had told the captain that Jhe had stowed away for the purpose of reaching England to take up nursing. The police had also endeavoured to persuade the girl co leave the ship, but she still refused and was fraally forcibly removed from the vessel.
