WELLINGTON, April 2, Harris has dcclinetl an invitation to compete in the United States during the forthcorning season there. i In making this statement at a meeting of the management eoinmittee of the N.Z.A.A.A. last niglit, tlie secretarv, Mr. J. N. Holley, read a cable message from the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States which asked if Harris would compete at Los Angeles in May and at the American championships in. July, The cablegram stated that -aii travel both wavs, would be arraiiged, and thnf if Harris accepted an invitation would also be extejided to the Australian sprinter J. Treloar. Wliile appreciating the offer, Harris had said that he was not available. Tt was mentioned at the meeting that tlus "yyus tlie first time on record that sueh an invitation had been received by a New Zealand athlete.-
