The Minister of Agriculture, Mr: Tqm Williams, reviewing the effects of the weather on Britain's home food production, said that large areas would not be fit for planting this season. Sheep and lamb losses totalled 2,000,000. representing little more than a week's meat rafion for the nation. The frosts and floods had de- 1 stroyed more than 80,000 tons of potatoes and damaged or destrQyed 270,000 q,cres of winter corn, said, Mr. Williams. The floods, at their peak, had engulfed 600,000 acres of agricujtural land.
