, ... ' S J> . Parents' Committee Meeting A meeting of the parents' committee of the local marching teams is to be held in the Druids' Hall tonight. Arrangemehts for the catering for the visiting teams who will be in Shannon-. for the carnival gala day will be discussed. Supper is being arranged and those attending " are . requested to bring a plate. Parcels for Britain At an executive' meeting of the local branch of the Returned Services' Association "recently it was decided to send 44 food parcels to needy ex-servicemen's families in Britain. The decision was the outcome of a circular letter received by the branch from the N.Z. R.S.A., advising that the local branch had been allocated a town in Fife, Scotland, to which food parcels were to be sent. Train Position Serious With the present cut in railway transport the rail service from Shannon will be very seriously affected. The only passenger trains running which will stop at Shannon, are the Napier express to Wellington, which arrives at Shannon at 1.43 p.m. on Mqndays and Fridays, and the Gisborne express, which arrives at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays, for Wellington. There will be no up trains ayailable.
