HEAVY TRAFFIC EXPECTED
CARE WILL BE NEEDED ON THE ROADS AT EASTER The volume of traffic on the ; jma™ -'.highWays over the Easter holidays. is' expected to be exceedingly.- heavy arid'. the local traffic. inspector, Mr, M. Kehoe, again stresses the need for motorists to ekercise the greatest care so that ;here whi not be a high accident rate and needless loss of life and humah suffering. Last weekend, with ordinary traffic, there were four fatalities involving users of motor vehicles or pedestrians, it ;.s not difficult t.o imagine what could happen over Easter with the greatly increased use of the roads if extra care is not taken. Oyer the Christmas and New Year holidays this district was fortunate in not having a single accident, despite the fact that the roads were thronged with more traffic ihan at any time since before the war. If the commonsense rules of motoring are observed there is no reason why this record should not be repeated. Excessjve speed and the cutting of corners are" the two principal causes gf accidents. Motorists ffiould also ensure that number plates and the outlook from the rear vision mirrors are not obscured 3y luggage.
