ON THE BOWLING GREEN
TOURNAMENT AT RAILWAY An enjoyable day was spent on the Otaki Railway Bowling Club's green on Sunday/ when thirteen rinks participated in a tournament. Players'were present from Wellington, Palmerston North, Levin and places eh route. The green was in fine order and some inte.resting play resulted. Five rinks tied, and •' in .the semi-final Caley (Petone)* beat T. Webster (Otaki Railway);, Taylor (Palmerston North) beat Mattar (Thorndori) ahd Barrow (Seatoun) beat Taylor. In the final Caley beat Barrow. ' • Games resulted as follows: Barrow, Symonds, T. Webster, Taylor, Caley and'- Mattar three wins each in four games played; Bailey, Merwood, Connor and Grey two each; O'Connor', Parsons and Childs one each. A match for the Mexted Cup was played on the Railway green on Saturday, when Paraparaumu won after good games. Otaki Club It is likely that the Karori bowlers will visLt Otaki on April 13, following on the closing day of the season. Several local bowlers will attend the various tournaments arranged for Easter week/ while some will visit Paraparaumu and Palmerston North, the majority will play at Levin. Ladies' Activities On Saturday, the lady bowlers' of Otaki accepted an invitation to try conclusions with a rink from Levin Ladies' Club. Most of the Otaki players found the greens too heavy,- the bowls unwieldly and "kitty" not at all in the right place, one member only playing better than ever before. However, the outing was most enjoyable, the Levin ladies entertaining the visitors with lavish hospitality. It is hoped that in the near future a return game will be played. when Otaki hope they .will do better on their. own green.
