ROBERT RYAN RETURNS
After a period in the Marines, rugged Robert Ryan comes back to ihe screen in R.-K.-O.'s romantic drama, "Women on the Beach." Director Jean Renoir was so eager to have Ryan play the coastguard lieutenant that he "postpo'ned the fllm unil the actor was discharged. Ryan shares with Joan Bennett and Charles Bickford an unusual triangle-story that helps its secret until the last ten minutes. "Woman on the Beach" also introduces . R.-K.-O.'s 1946 discovery, blonde Virginia Huston, as the girl whom Ryan deserts for joan. The studio trained Virginia for a year before she played, Eve.
