AUCKLAND, March 28. - Unmarked by- any ceremony or comuient, Mr. Justice- Johnston and. the Registrar of thc Supreme Court (Mr. F. Kuight) both made their fiual official appearauce in Court today. The sitting was a brief one. At the conclusion of the business the usher called "silence", and a siuall group of lavvyers and others present stood as his Honour withdrew for the last time. Mr. Justiee Johnston returned to Wellington tonight and his term of office Avill expire on Monday. His Honour, who has reached the retiring age of 72, was callcd to the English bar 50 years ago and shortly afterwanl in the same year he was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand. He beeame president of the Wellington Law Society in 1928 and was appointed King's Counsel two years lafer. On February 1, 1934* he was sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court so that he has completed more thau 13 years' service on the Bencli.
