HUTT VALLEY DEFIES N.Z. BOXING ASSOCIATION
WELLINGTON, March 28. "This is the first I have lieard of those acciisations which the persons concerned have had no opportunity to contradict," said Mr. L. Stewart, president of the Hutt Valley Boxing Association, in a statement tonight on the matters raised in the Jones case. "I personally do no believe a word of them and I do not think any sensible personvould believe them-." He added r "lt may he that in the next few days the expulsion of a member of the Hutt Valley Association will help to show the public what the accusations were worth. The eontest iixed for Easter Saturday will take place and any attempt to prevent it will be at the peril of the persons responsible. " The meeting of the Boxing Control Jouncil adjourned from last Friday was continued tonight. Asked after the meeting if any decision had been made on any action to stop the fight arranged jy the Hutt Valley Boxing' Association between Jones and Stevefis, the secretary (Mr; George Aldridge) said: ■ 'No." He added that he had no state- j ment to make on behalf of the Council.
