The demand for electricity far exceeds the supply. 9 DURING MARCH AND APRIL — No new power resources will be available. The stand-by unit at Arapuni will be under overhaul until mid-April, Also in the last stages of filling Karapiro lake the station at Hprahora will go out of operation. DURING MAY AND JUNE — The first unit at the Karapiro station should begin working early in May. A crisis could readily arise during the running-in. period of the new machinery. Even with this new unit demand is still expected to be ahead of supply. JULY ONWARDS — The second unit at Karapiro and the first unit at Kaitawa (Waikaremoana) should corae into operation in July. Then in October the second unit at Kaitawa and the third (stand-by) unit at Karapiro are expected to be available.
