RIOT DEATHS TOTAL 2049
• — Received Fridav. 11.55 a.m. LAHORE, March 20. A communique stated that 2049 have been ^killed and 1103 seriously injured to March 19 in the Punjab ccmmunual disturbanees. The figures from the Rawalpindi and Attock districts are not yet reliable, but it is feared that they Will be formidable. It is .officially reported that the situatjon has improved, but there is still tensjon ln two districts. In Peshawar Moslem League supporters stopped business as a protest against the arrival of 10,000 Red iShirts (the pro-Congress Moslem volunteer organisation formed in the AQrth-wesf frontier proyinc.e). The Red Shirts said they cawe "to restore eonfidence in the non-Moslem population."
