E- Wenhajn tLeyin) and L. Rodgers (Feilding) met on uhe Hokowhitu green on §aturday ,ast to decide the issue. After the first 21 ends the scores were even, and at the end of an extra six heads the Feilding rink emerged che wjpners. The "green was partieularly fast and the players found that it was extremely difficult with the eross prpeze to stop close to the jack, rhe fiery condition of the green militafe.d to some extent againsjt closely-cqntes.t.ed heads, and many were wide ones. In the -first final Levin took the lead with a brace, but Feilding retaliated pn the next with a' seven. Each side scored.a single on the next two ends. Levin notched a single on each of the fifth and sixtjh heads to make the score .8—5. Feilding added a two on the seventh oniy for Levin to retaliate with a brace on each of •;he eighth and nihth ends. Feilding made the score 1,3 — 9 in their favour when they added a three on che next head. ; Levin went to £2 .with a single and a brace on the 11th and 12th, but a single on the 13th again gave Feilding a twopoint advantage. The match during this period was very eyen jand singles were the best each side could score. Feilding led 15 — 14 i after the 16th end, but on the 17th they added a three, only for their opponents to score a similar numoer an the 18th head. Feilding made the score 19 — 17 on the 19th head. On the 20th, when Feilding were lying' three shots within a foot of the jack, two of which were gained by their No. 3 (F. E. Allen) , Wenham played a superb "toucher" on a difficult head. The 21st head found Levin lying two when the skips went co the mat. Rodgers ran through. the head and pushed two of his "own bowls in for shots. WenhaiU drew the shot bowl off to give the neeessary one for a tie at 19-all. After a brief consultation it was decided that an extra six ends would be played to decide the wi'bner. Feilding took the lead with a brace on the first and a single on the next end. Levin replied with a brace of threes to lead 6 — 3 with two heads to go. Feilding notched a siiigle on the fifth. On the sixth end the Feilding lead, S. Hewitt, gave his side the shot a foot from the jack and then Nesbit and Allen each drew ohe. Burnham, the Levin No. 3, endeavoured to tjail the jack a yard to four of his side's bowls, but he narrpwly missed. Wenham tried to do this but he also narr.owly missed on both occasions, •thus giving the Feilding team victory by eight points to six. The members of the teams were: — Feilding: S. Hewitt, W. Nesbit, F. E. Allen, L. Rodgers (skip) . Levin: H. J. Hughes, A. J- Meads, F. HBurnham, H. E. Wenham (skip) .
