'"The departmental otticers conceined apparently don't realise that you cannot eontinue bread manufacture uuless vou have salt," commented oue dele"gate. The matter was left in the hands of the Xew Zealand Couneil for urgent aetion. Lalor in Ihe day a lelegram arrived
froni the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) stating that importers had advised that the position had been eovered. Shipping, the Minister stated, appeared to be the main problem, but he considered that the position would improve in the future.
