HEAVY STOCK YARDINGS
-p. PIG PRICES SHOW EASING r. There were good yardings in all fat stock sections at the weekly sale in Levin on Tuesda^. Pigs were in good supply, but limited competition had the effect of easing prices. Realisations generally were on a par with late market rates. The following is a range of prices realised: — Sheep: Fat ewes, 19s 10d, 20s lOd to 22s lOd; fat b.f. 2-tooths, up to 30s lOd; fat wethers, 32s ld, 33s 4d to 34s 7d; fat lambs, 29s 4d, 30s lOd, 32s ld to 33s 4d;-4 and 5-year ewes, to 25s 3d; store wethers, to 28s; store lambs, 12s 7d to 16s; S.D. rams, £5 2s 6d. Cattle: Springing heifers, £8 10s, £10 10s, £15 to £18 15s; springing, cows, £9, £10 10s to £11; potter bulls £9 10s to £10 15s; P.A. cows and calves, to £8 15s; empty P.A. cows, £7 10s; store cows ex-dairy, £4 10s, £5, £5 10s to £6 2s 6d; weaner heifers, £3 7s 6d to £4; yearling heifers, £4 17s 6d to £5 5s; vealers, £4 12s 6d, £5 2s 6d to £5 17s 6d;" runners, £7 12s 6d to £8 7s 6d; fat cows exdairy, £6 17s 6d, £7 12s 6d, £8 2s 6d, £9 7s 6d to £11 2s 6d. Pigs: Porkers, £2 16s, £3, £3 3s to £3 10s; baconers, £4 to £5 12s; ehoppers, £5 10s, £6 10s to £7 10s; store pigs, 24s to 36s; weaners, 12s.
