PIGEONS WILL CARRY NEWS PHOTOS

A highlight of Saturday's Wellington provincial marching championships at the Levin Park Pqmain will be the employment of carrier pigeons for the ponveyance to Wellington of iilms repording the event. These will be published by a Wellington sporting newspaper the same night. Thpugh unique to Levin, this method of dispatching iilms and newspaper copy was, before the advent of regular air services and telegraph, widely used by newspapers, particularly by correspondents recording outside race meetings and war correspondents. The pigeons to be used on Saturday will be released on the grounds by the Mayprqss, Mrs. H. B. Burdekin, at apprpximately 1.15 p.m. and are expected to arrive at Wellington at 2.30 p.m. *
