THURSDAY AND FRIDAY MATINEE THURSDAY 2 P.M.
Politics and the boss system come in for a bit on the square kidding in Universal's "The Dark Horse," a fast moving bit of satire which comes to the Regent Theatre On Thursday and Friday-. Based on a Saturday Evening Post Story by Sam Hellman which was published in 1928, the picture substitutes a World War II veteran for the veteran of the first war, as in the original, but otherwise highlights the ex-service man as a desirable asset for a political machine. Audiences who have become annoyed with the sameness of the run-of-the-time western pictures ,have a treat in store for them when they see Republic's big new Roy Rogers' de luxe production, "Song of Texas," which is the second attraction at' the Regent Theatre on Thursday and Friday. Roy's singing to the accompanying background of The Sons of the Pioneers is always enthusiastically received, but this picture has more. There is a definite, exciting plot that keeps the audience on the edges of its chairs. Children, at the matinee Thursday Roy Rogers with Trigger screens last. Hurry from school. Admission 6d.
