LABOUR MAY LOSE IN WEST AUSTRALIA
Received Tuesday, 8.20 p.m. PERTH, Mar. 18. The outcome of the West Australian elections last Saturday is likely to he in doubt for at least a week owing to the slowness in the receipt of primary votes and the necessity for the distribution of preferences in a number of cases. The preferfences cannot be counted imtil the Service--votes are received and some of these have to come from Japan. There has been little claritication since yesterday but latest figures show that the L'abour Government may lose seven seats which would mean defeat. The loss of fiVe would mean that the Independents would hold the halance of power. The Opposition is claiming gains of eight seats but some of- these hang on no more than two or three votes with a hundred or more to come.
