EXPLOSION ON BARGE

— Received Mornlav, 8 30 p.m. SYDNEY, Mar. 17. With a great flash of flame, the barge : of Rear-Admiral H. B. Farncombe, staff ! offic'er commanding the Australian squadrou, exploded at Man 0' War steps tliis aftprnoon. Two ratings who wero in the stern -dived into the harbour and esoaped with minor burns. The Rear-Admiral was aboard the eruiser Hobart at the time - and tho j crew were starting the barge to pick | him up. The0 fire was brought undei control with hand extinguishers, but the barge was severelv damaged.
