New Factory It is rumoured that another factory, one for the making of underwear, will be opened in the old cordial factory in Matene Street. Oversize Tomato A tomato -weighing well over a pound, and grown by Mr. Tom Walker, at Otaki Beach, is at present on exhibition at "The Chronicle" Office, Otaki. Pension Payments Old age pensions will be paid out at the Otaki Post Office on Wednesday, widows' and family benefits on Thursday, war pensions on Friday, and veterans' and universal superannuation on the 31. Benefit Entertainment A very pleasant evening was spent at Raukawa on Friday night, when friends of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Bevan, who had the misfortune recently to lose the contents of their home by fire, congregated. The object was to raise a sum of money to tide Mr. and Mrs. Bevan over their loss. As a result a useful amount of over £60 was handed over. Rugby Rule Amendments "At the recent annual meeting of the Otaki Football Club it was decided to give support to notices of motion by the Horowhenua Union for certain amendments to the rules. These propose a reduction in vice-presidents from three to one, a change in voting strength on the union to two votes for each senior team and one for each other team. that the age of third grade players be raised from 18 to 19 years, and that a fourth grade competition be instituted.
