NEW WOMEN'S AIR SPEED RECORD

Margie ITnlbert, A' Painesville, Ohio, flying a elipped wing Corsair, set a women 's inl ernat ional speed record of 337.635 miles hourly over a standard three-kiloinetre course at the Tampa ( Florida ) all woman air show today. Her time was 45 miles hourly better tlian the old record of 292. 271 miles per' hour which Jacqueline 'Cochran established at Detroit in 1957. Miss Hui hert, who is a school teacher, served as j a Wasp in tlie Second World War. ;
