PERFECT WEATHER FOR GAMES ON SATURDAY Perfect weather again favoured cricket enthusiasts on Saturday, when a further series of games was played in the second round of the Horowhenua Cricket Association's Hall Shield competition. Old Boys D^feat College B Old Boys secured'an butright 'win against College i B on -the Levin Domain. College had first use of the wieket and made a total of 60 runs, Leddra (17), Satherley (15) and Williams (10) being t'he only double-figure scorers. Wiseley returned the best bowling average for Old Boys, taking two wickets for five runs. A feature was that Judd bowled 10 overs with only two runs, being scored off them. Old Boys replied with 169, Judd and V. Lynch each contributing 30. Young captured five wickets for' 58 runs. College returned for a second innings and had compiled 54 runs for the loss of six wickets at the close of time, Williams (22) and Munford (11) being the only batsmen to reach double figures. Clapcott took two for one and Elvidge two for seven. Weraroa beat College A A fine eentury by J. Ryder was the main reason for College's defeat by six wickets in their match with Weraroa. College batted first and compiled a good total of 134 runs, McClune (37), MacFarlane .(27 not out) and Andrews (19) being the top scorers. Wallace returned »the figures of three wickets for seven runs. Weraroa's first two wickets fell cheaply, but a stand was then made by Ryder and Hudson. Weraroa concluded their , innings when the score stood at 168 for the loss of seven wickets. MacFarlane was the most successful College bowler, taking - three wickets for 30 runs.
