AITCHISON — LAW WEDDING Glorious sunshine greeted Dcra Josephine, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. -J. Law, "Te Rohenga," Ihakara, on Saturday, March 2, the day of her marriage to John Kenneth Baxter, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Aitchison, Margaret Street, Shannon. St. Andrew's Presbyterian Chiirch, Levin, where the vows were exchanged, had heen beautifully decorated by Miss Peggy Speedy and Mrs. J. C. Gardner for the occasion. At a h'alf-hour past noon, the bride, escorted by her father, entered the ch'urch wearing a trained magnolia satin gown, featuring a ruched fltting long waisted bodice with tiny buttons down the back and finished" with bustle effect. The heart-shaped neckline was softened with a beautiful piece of rare old lace. Her full length embroidered veil (lent by her sister-in-law, Mrs. R. Law) was held in place by orange blossoms worn by her maternal grandmother on her wedding day. An exquisite shower bouquet completed a charming toilet. The only bridesmaid was a cousin, Miss Ddra Bloomfield of
Wellington, who wore an ice-blue nylon, ground length frock, a pink feather halo with. a short pink veil, and carried a 'tieautiful shower bouquet of pink tiger lilies, carnations and fern. The duties of best man were carried out by the bridegroom's cousin, Mr. Ray Aitchison, of Opiki, and the ushers at the church were Messrs. R. M. Law, brother of the bride, and H. Aitchison, brother of the bridegroom. The reception, which was attended by 60 relatives and friends, was held at Williams' tearooms, where Mrs. Law received ihe guests wearing a suit of duckegg blue with touches of coral and nigger brown. accessories. Mrs. Aitchison assisted and "her cho'ice for this occasion was a suit of light navy blue. with which was worn a pink' blouse and; navy hat with tcning pink flowers. Rev. A. Salmond, who officiaited at the marriage, happily carried out the duties of toastmaster and in proposing the toast to the bride and bridegroom, referred to their identical interests, for the bride was hot only the daughter of a well-known farmer, but she farmed on her own account. The bridegroom had assisted on' his father's farm from the time of leaving school until January, 1940, wh'en he joined the light anti-aircraf/tL regiment 'on its formation and ser'ved until it disbanded in Italy on November 2, 1944. On his return to Shannon he had resumed farpiing. After the reception the guests motored out to the homestead to view the handsome wedding gifts and enjoyed the spacious g'ardens. : V/hen Mr. and Mrs. Aitchison left on their honeymoon, the latter wore a nigger and fawn . diagonal tweed £;uit, a jade blouse and handbag and a brown feather toque with matching gloves and shoes. Their future home will be at "Ashby Farm," . McDonald Road, Levin.
