DASH TO SAVE CREW OF 42 ON SINKING SHIP

Reppiyed TJmrsday, 10.25 p.m. PONOLULU, March 12. The Apierican tanker Fort Dearborn, of 6000 tons, bound for Shanghai, broke in two 800 miles northivest of Honolulu. The two halves are reported to be sinking wifp the crew of 42 aboard. Five ships within 500 miles are racing to the rescue. A searph plane located the two halves of the Fort Dearborn. Meitibers of the crew were seen on the sfprn half, which was reported to be riding well, although the boyv section appeared to be sinking. It is belieyed possible that ajlj thp 42 members qf the crew may be aboard the stern half a\yaiting rpscue by any of the seypral ships speeding to their aid. One ship is expected to reach the Fort Dearborp today.
